Gauges System Description - Control/Function
Speedometer and Tachometer
The PCM provides a vehicle speed signal to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. Based on this input, the gauge control module displays the current speed in the speedometer. Ambient Meter
The ambient meter shows real-time driving information by color on the both sides of the speedometer which promotes fuel efficient driving. When the color is close to green, it means low fuel consumption driving. When the color is close to white, it means high fuel consumption driving. ECON Display
Press the ECON switch to display the ECON information. The signal occurred by pressing the ECON switch is sent to the PCM via the F-CAN. The PCM calculates the fuel efficiency based on the signals from each sensor (speed, fuel consumption, mileage, water temperature, etc.), then sends the tone change signal of the ambient meter in the gauge control module. The tone change signal consists of white, green, and light-OFF. Fuel Gauge and Low Fuel Indicator
The gauge control module displays the fuel gauge based on input value from the fuel gauge sending unit. The low fuel indicator lights in the event that indication of the fuel gauge becomes lower than the minimum tank fill threshold. Multi-Information Display (MID) or Information Display
The multi-information display (MID) provides the odometer/trip meter, ambient temperature, average fuel efficiency, available cruising range, instantaneous fuel economy, passing time, ECO guide, ACC, LKAS, CMBS, rear seat belt reminder, average speed and the status of keyless access system (the displayed contents differs depending on the model). In addition, the diagnostic system displays the communication errors and the DTCs. Odometer and Trip Meter
The PCM provides a vehicle speed signal to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. Based on this input, the gauge control module tracks mileage for the odometer and trip meters. The mileage values are displayed in the information display or the multi-information display (MID). Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge
The PCM provides an engine coolant temperature signal to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. When the engine coolant temperature is high, the gauge control module displays the ATTENTION or CAUTION warning in the multi-information display (MID). Outside Air Temperature
The gauge control module uses measurements from outside temperature sensor provided by the climate control unit via the B-CAN to display the outside air temperature in the information display or the multi-information display. Average Fuel Economy Records, Average Fuel Economy/Instant Fuel Economy, Range, Elapsed Time display, Average Speed display
The gauge control module receives signals such as fuel consumption, driving distance, vehicle speed, and engine speed from the PCM via the F-CAN, and to calculate the instant/average fuel economy, the range, etc. based on these signals. A/T Gear Position Indicator
The PCM provides transmission selector position to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. Based on this data, the gauge control module displays the appropriate A/T gear position indicator. Gauge Control Module Receives Information
The gauge control module receives information from each control unit via the F-CAN and the B-CAN to light or flash the indicators. The parking brake switch, the washer fluid level switch, the multi-information switch, the ECON switch, the steering wheel switches, and the brake fluid level switch are connected directly to the gauge control module. The turn signal indicator signal is sent from the MICU. Keyless Access System Information
The gauge control module receives information from the keyless access control unit via the B-CAN to display status of the keyless access system. Buzzer
The gauge control module includes a buzzer to provide the driver with audible warnings. Illumination Control
The illumination brightness can be adjusted using the Sel/Reset knob. When the exterior lights are off, the system is off. When the gauge control module received the remote start signal via the B-CAN, the gauge control module turns off the illumination brightness. |
