Basic Controls of ACC System

ACC system uses the millimeter wave radar to detect the leading vehicle, determines the target vehicle and measures the distance to the target vehicle and its vehicle speed. (the system also uses the multipurpose camera as needed to determine the target vehicle based on the lane and vehicle position information) |

When there is no vehicle ahead, the ACC maintains the set speed. |

When there is a vehicle ahead, the ACC maintains a set distance but will not exceed the set speed. |
|
If the vehicle ahead pulls over out of the way, the ACC accelerates the vehicle to the set speed and maintains that speed. |

If the ACC detects a slow vehicle and the distance to the vehicle ahead is closing, the vehicle speed is reduced primarily by closing the throttle, and additional slowing is accomplished by using the brakes. If the vehicle ahead is too close, an alarm sounds. |

If a slower vehicle ahead accelerates, the throttle is opened to accelerate the vehicle (up to the set speed.) to maintain the following distance. |

When there is no leading vehicle, your vehicle drives at the preset speed. When there is a leading vehicle, your vehicle follows the vehicle and drives within the preset speed. |
Driving pattern example
The system estimates the driving course based on your vehicle speed and yaw rate and detects a vehicle that enters the camera range and differentiate it from the leading vehicle using the lane and leading vehicle information from the multipurpose camera.
