Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

1. Battery Terminal - Disconnect

Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Front Cover - Remove (with power seat)


3. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit - Remove

From under the front passenger's seat, disconnect the front passenger's weight sensor connector A, B and C.

Remove the front passenger's weight sensor unit (D) from the bracket (E).

NOTE: While separating the front passenger's weight sensor unit from the bracket, use a flat-tipped screwdriver (F) to push and release it from the bracket.

Install the front passenger's weight sensor unit (D) to the bracket (E).

NOTE: Make sure the front passenger's weight sensor unit is properly installed. You will hear a click when the front passenger's weight sensor unit is securely mounted on the bracket.

Connect the front passenger's weight sensor connector A, B, and C.

3. Battery Terminal - Connect


4. DTC - Clear

Clear any DTCs with the HDS.

5. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit - Initialize

NOTE: After replacing the front passenger's weight sensor unit with a new one, initialize the front passenger's weight sensor unit. Front passenger's weight sensor unit initialization initializes the front passenger's weight sensor.


6. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit - Update

Make sure the front passenger's weight sensor unit has the latest software. If it does not have the latest, update the software in the front passenger's weight sensor unit.

7. SRS Operation - Confirm

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
