MTF Inspection and Replacement
1. Vehicle - Lift


2. MTF - Check


1.
Remove the oil check bolt (A) and the 6 mm sealing washer (B).

2.
Check the condition of the MTF and make sure it is at the proper level (C).

NOTE: If the fluid is dirty, replace the MTF.

3.
Install the oil check bolt with a new 6 mm sealing washer.

2. MTF - Drain

Remove the oil check bolt (A) and the 6 mm sealing washer (B).

2.
Remove the drain plug (C) and the 14 mm sealing washer (D), and drain the MTF.

3.
Install the drain plug with a new 14 mm sealing washer.

3. Air Cleaner - Remove


4. MTF - Refill



1.
Remove the filler plug (A) and the 20 mm sealing washer (B).

2.
Refill the MTF from the filler plug hole on the transmission, until the MTF overflows from the oil check bolt hole (C). Always use Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF).

Fluid Capacity:
 
2.1 L (2.2 US qt) at fluid change
 
2.5 L (2.6 US qt) at overhaul

After the fluid stops overflowing, install the oil check bolt (D) with a new 6 mm sealing washer (E).

5. Filler Plug - Install

Install the filler plug (A) with a new 20 mm sealing washer (B).


6. Air Cleaner - Install


7. HDS DLC - Connect


1.
Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.

2.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

3.
Make sure the HDS communicates with vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting.

8. Maintenance Minder - Reset (With Maintenance Minder System)

If the Maintenance Minder required to replace the MTF, reset the Maintenance Minder with the gauge (see "Resetting the Maintenance Minder"). If the Maintenance Minder did not require to replace the MTF, reset the Maintenance Minder with the HDS (see "Resetting the Individual Maintenance Items").
