Back-Up Light Switch Test
1. Back-Up Light Switch - Test

Remove the harness clamps (B).

Remove transmission hanger A.





4.
Disconnect the back-up light switch connector (A).





5.
Check for continuity between back-up light switch 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be continuity only when the shift lever is in reverse.

If the test result is OK, go to step 10.
If the test result is not OK, go to step 6.

Remove the back-up light switch (A).

Check for continuity between back-up light switch 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be continuity when the switch end (B) is pressed, and no continuity when the switch end is released.

If the test result is OK, check the reverse shift mechanism in the transmission.
If the test result is not OK, replace the back-up light switch.

Clean any dirt and oil from the sealing surface of the back-up light switch and the transmission housing.

9.
Apply liquid gasket (P/N 08718-0004 or 08718-0009) to the threads of the back-up light switch (A). Install the back-up light switch within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.

NOTE:
If you apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.
If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.





10.
Connect the back-up light switch connector (A).






11.
Install transmission hanger A.

12.
Install the harness clamps (B).
