Shift Lever Housing Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repair or service.

1. Shift Lever Knob - Remove

Lower the shift lever boot (A) to release the hooks (B) from the boot.

2.
Remove the shift lever knob (C).

2. Center Console - Remove


3. Shift Lever Housing - Remove

Left side

Right side
NOTE: Do not bend the change wire excessively.

1.
Remove the harness clamps (A).






2.
Remove the cotter pin (A).

3.
Remove the washer (B).

4.
Disconnect the change wire end (C).






5.
Unlock the retainer lock (A).

6.
Rotate the socket holder retainer (B) counterclockwise (C) until it stops, and push the retainer lock (D) into the socket holder retainer to lock the retainer.

7.
Slide the socket holder (E) and the change wire (F) out of the shift lever housing (G).

NOTE: Do not remove the change wire by pulling the change wire guide (H).






8.
Remove the clamp (A).

9.
Disconnect the change wire end (B).

10.
Remove shift lever housing (C).

1. Shift Lever Housing - Install



NOTE: Do not bend the change wire excessively.

1.
Install the change wire end (A).

2.
Install the clamp (B).

3.
Install the shift lever housing (C).

4.
Align the socket holder (D) on the change wire (E) with the slot in the shift lever housing.

5.
Slide the socket holder into the shift lever housing.






6.
Install the change wire end (A).

NOTE: Position the serrated side (B) facing up.

7.
Install the washer (C).

8.
Install a new cotter pin (D).

Install the harness clamps (A).

3. Shift Lever Knob - Install


1.
Install the shift lever knob (A).

NOTE: Tighten the shift lever knob until the shift pattern is properly aligned.

2.
Install the shift lever boot (B).
