Side Impact Sensor (Second) Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

2-Door

1. Battery Terminal - Disconnect

Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Rear Side Trim Panel - Remove

Remove the rear side trim panel.

3. Side Impact Sensor (Second) - Remove
1.
Disconnect the side impact sensor (second) connector (A) on the left or right side wire harness.
2.
Remove the TORX bolt (B) using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the side impact sensor (second) (C).

4-Door

1. Battery Terminal - Disconnect

Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Rear Door Sill Trim - Remove

Remove the rear door sill trim.

3. Side Impact Sensor (Second) - Remove
1.
Disconnect the side impact sensor (second) connector (A) on the left or right side wire harness.
2.
Remove the TORX bolt (B) using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the side impact sensor (second) (C).

1. Side Impact Sensor (Second) - Install
1.
Install the side impact sensor (second) (A) with the new TORX bolt (B), using a TORX T30 bit.
2.
Connect the side impact sensor (second) connector (C) on the left or right side wire harness.

2. Battery Terminal - Connect

Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

3. DTC - Clear

Clear any DTCs with the HDS.

4. SRS Operation - Confirm

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

5. Rear Side Trim Panel - Install

Install the rear side trim panel.

4-Door

1. Side Impact Sensor (Second) - Install

Install the side impact sensor (second) (A) with the new TORX bolt (B), using a TORX T30 bit.
2.
Connect the side impact sensor (second) connector (C) on the left or right side wire harness.

2. Battery Terminal - Connect

Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

3. DTC - Clear

Clear any DTCs with the HDS.

4. SRS Operation - Confirm

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

5. Rear Door Sill Trim - Install

Install the rear door sill trim.
