Starter Solenoid Test
1. Battery - Remove


2. Battery Base - Remove

Loosen the bolts (A).

Remove the battery base (B).

3. Splash Separator - Remove

Remove the splash separator.


4. Positive Starter cable, Motor Cable, and S Terminal Connector - Disconnect

Remove the harness clamp (A), then disconnect the positive starter cable (B), the motor cable (C), and the S terminal connector (D).


5. Starter Solenoid - Test

Check the hold-in coil for continuity between the S terminal and the armature housing (ground). There should be continuity:

If there is continuity, go to step 2.
If there is no continuity, replace the solenoid.

Check the pull-in coil for continuity between the S terminal and the M terminal. There should be continuity:

If there is continuity, the solenoid is OK.
If there is no continuity, replace the solenoid.

6. Positive Starter cable, Motor Cable, and S Terminal Connector - Connect

Install the harness clamp (A), then connect the positive starter cable (B), the motor cable (C), and the S terminal connector (D). Make sure the crimped side of the ring terminal faces away from the starter when you connect it.


7. Splash Separator - Install

Install the splash separator.


9. Battery Base - Install

Install the battery base.


10. Starter After Install - Check

Start the engine to make sure the starter works properly.
