CVT Drive Pulley Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Test

NOTE: Keep all foreign particles out of the transmission.

1. SCS - Short

1.
Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.

2.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

3.
Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting.

4.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

5.
Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

2. CVT Drive Pulley Pressure Control Solenoid Valve - Internal Resistance Check

1.
Remove the harness clamps (A).

2.
Remove the PCM cover (B).

3.
Disconnect PCM connector C.

4.
Measure the CVT drive pulley pressure control solenoid valve resistance between PCM connector C terminal No. 4 and body ground.

Standard: 5.1?6.4 ?
If the resistance is within the standard, then the test is complete, and install all removed parts.
If the resistance is out of the standard, then go to the next step, and check the CVT drive pulley pressure control solenoid valve operation.

5.
Connect PCM connector C.

3. Transmission Fluid Pan - Remove

NOTE: The actual transmission fluid (HCF-2) capacity will vary from the specified capacity based on the length of time the transmission fluid pan is off the transmission. Avoid leaving the transmission fluid pan off for extend periods of time.

4. Transmission Fluid Strainer - Remove

1.
Remove the transmission fluid strainer (A) with the O-ring (B).

2.
Clean the inlet opening (A) of the transmission fluid strainer (B) thoroughly with compressed air.

3.
Check that it is in good condition and that the inlet opening is not clogged.

4.
Test the strainer by pouring clean transmission fluid through the inlet opening, and replace it if it is clogged or damaged.

5. CVT Drive Pulley Pressure Control Solenoid Valve - Operation Check

1.
Disconnect the CVT drive pulley pressure control solenoid valve connector (A).

2.
Connect a jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to CVT drive pulley pressure control solenoid valve connector (B) terminal No. 2, and connect another jumper wire from the negative battery terminal to connector terminal No. 1.

If a clicking sound is heard, repair the wire between the CVT drive pulley pressure control solenoid valve and the PCM, then go to the next step.

3.
Connect the CVT drive pulley pressure control solenoid valve connector.

6. Transmission Fluid Strainer - Install

Install the transmission fluid strainer (A) with a new O-ring (B).

NOTE:
Install the transmission fluid strainer carefully to prevent damaging the O-ring.
Do not pinch the solenoid wire harnesses.

7. Transmission Fluid Pan - Install

8. PCM Cover - Install

1.
Install the PCM cover (A).

2.
Install the harness clamps (B).
