Shift Solenoid Valve O/P Test

NOTE: Keep all foreign particles out of the transmission.

1. HDS DLC - Connect

1.
Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.

2.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

3.
Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting.

2. Shift Solenoid Valve O/P - HDS Function Test

1.
Select the Shift Solenoid Valve O/P in the Miscellaneous Test Menu with the HDS.

2.
Check that Shift Sol O/P is indicated to ON and OFF by three seconds.

If indicated to ON and OFF, the solenoid valve O/P is OK. The test is complete, disconnect the HDS.
If no indicated to ON and OFF, go to the next step.

3.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

3. Transmission Fluid Pan - Remove

NOTE: The actual transmission fluid (HCF-2) capacity will vary from the specified capacity based on the length of time the transmission fluid pan is off the transmission. Avoid leaving the transmission fluid pan off for extend periods of time.

4. Shift Solenoid Valve O/P - Internal Resistance Check

1.
Disconnect the shift solenoid valve O/P connector (A).

2.
Measure the shift solenoid valve O/P resistance between the shift solenoid valve O/P connector (B) terminal No. 1 and body ground.

Standard: 10.6?13.5 ?
If the resistance is within the standard, the test is complete, and install all removed parts.
If the resistance is out of the standard, replace the shift solenoid valve O/P.

5. Shift Solenoid Valve O/P - Operation Check

1.
Connect a jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to shift solenoid valve O/P connector (A) terminal No. 1, and connect another jumper wire from the negative battery terminal to body ground.

If a clicking sound is heard, go to the next step.
If no clicking sound is heard, replace the shift solenoid valve O/P.

3.
Connect a tube (A) to the shift solenoid valve O/P (B).

4.
Connect a jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to connector terminal No. 1, and connect another jumper wire from the negative battery terminal to solenoid valve body. Blow air into the tube (A).

If the air goes out of the port (C), go to the next step.
If the air does not go out of the port (C), replace the shift solenoid valve O/P.

5.
Disconnect the jumper wires. Blow air into the tube.

If the air goes out of the port (C), replace the shift solenoid valve O/P.
If the air does not go out of the port (C), repair the wire between the shift solenoid valve O/P and the PCM, then install the shift solenoid valve O/P.

6. Transmission Fluid Pan - Install
