HandsFreeLink Control Unit Update

NOTE:
Before you update the HandsFreeLink control unit, check the vehicle battery condition first, and connect a jumper battery (not a battery charger) to maintain system voltage.
Never turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode during the update. If there is a problem with the update, leave the ignition switch is in ON (II), or vehicle is in ON mode.
To ensure the latest program is installed, do a HandsFreeLink control unit update whenever the HandsFreeLink control unit is substituted or replaced.
The HandsFreeLink control unit is updated via Bluetooth using the HFL control unit update application on the HDS PC. Make sure the HDS PC is inside the vehicle when updating the HandsFreeLink control unit.

1. HandsFreeLink Control Unit - Update

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

Make sure the display is in Audio mode.

3.
Press and hold the preset No. 1 and No. 6 buttons.

4.
While holding the buttons, push the VOLUME/POWER knob.

5.
Release all the buttons, and the Self-Diagnostic Function begins (DIAG is displayed).

Press and hold the PHONE button for more than 5 seconds to enter the HFL diagnostic mode.

7.
Open the HFL control unit update application on the HDS PC.





8.
Press the preset No. 2 button several times until S/W version appears on the display.

9.
Press the SELECTOR knob to change the HFL update screen.





10.
A PASS (pin code) (A) appears on the vehicle's HFL update screen. To start the update, enter this PASS into the HFL control unit update application on the HDS PC.

NOTE: If the HandsFreeLink control unit is not able to connect with the HFL control unit update application after 5 minutes, the HandsFreeLink control unit times out. If the HandsFreeLink control unit times out, turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then go to step 1 and try again.

When the update finishes successfully, the message appears on the vehicle's HFL diagnosis screen. Press the SELECTOR knob to check that the HandsFreeLink control unit is updated. If the unit did not update, the message appears on the vehicle's HFL diagnosis screen. Press the SELECTOR knob, and turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then go to step 1 and try again. If you cannot select the HFL update screen, go to step 12.

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

Open the HFL control unit update application on the HDS PC.

14.
Use the previously used PASS to start the HandsFreeLink control unit update.

NOTE: If the HFL update was unsuccessful, the previously used pin code is displayed on the HFL control unit update application on the HDS PC.

Update the HandsFreeLink control unit. If you cannot access the HandsFreeLink control unit, restart your HDS PC, then go to step 12.

16.
When the update finishes successfully, turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

17.
Go into the Self-Diagnostic Function, and check the HFL S/W (software) version that appears on the vehicle's HFL diagnosis screen.

18.
To end the Self-Diagnostic Function, select Return until the map screen is displayed or turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
