Front Brake Pad Inspection

Frequent inhalation of brake pad dust, regardless of material composition, could be hazardous to your health.
Avoid breathing dust particles.
Never use an air hose or brush to clean brake assemblies. Use an OSHA-approved vacuum cleaner.

NOTE : There are different types of brake calipers available depending on the model. Refer to Compornent Location Index to confirm the relevant type before performing an operation.

16/17 inch brake disc

1. Vehicle - Lift


2. Front Wheels - Remove


3. Brake Pad - Inspect

Check the thickness (A) of the inner pad (B) and the outer pad (C). Do not include the thickness of the backing plate.

Brake pad thickness:
 
Standard:
   
16 inch brake disc:
10.0 mm (0.394 in)
   
17 inch brake disc:
11.0 mm (0.433 in)
 
Service limit:
1.6 mm (0.063 in)

If any part of the brake pad thickness is less than the service limit, replace the brake pads as a set.

3. Brake Pad - Inspect

Inner pad

Outer pad

11.0 mm (0.433 in)
 
Service limit:
1.6 mm (0.063 in)

If any part of the brake pad thickness is less than the service limit, replace the brake pads as a set.
