SRS Unit Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

2-Door

1. Battery Terminal - Disconnect

Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Front Console Covers - Remove


3. SRS Unit - Remove


1.
Remove the clip (C), then remove the rear heater joint duct B (D).

2.
Disconnect SRS unit connectors A and B.

NOTE: The SRS unit connectors have lever locks. Release the locks before disconnecting the connectors.





3.
Remove the TORX bolt (A) from left side using a TORX T30 bit.






4.
Cut the slit (A) of the carpet to gain access to the TORX bolts.

5.
Remove the TORX bolts (B) from right side using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the SRS unit (C).

1. Battery Terminal - Disconnect

Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

3. SRS Unit - Remove

Remove the clip (C), then remove the rear heater joint duct B (D).

2.
Disconnect SRS unit connectors A and B.

NOTE: The SRS unit connectors have lever locks. Release the locks before disconnecting the connectors.

Release the hook and loop fastener (A), and turn over the carpets (B), then remove the TORX bolt (C) from left side using a TORX T30 bit.





4.
Remove the TORX bolts (A) from right side using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the SRS unit (B).

2-Door

1. SRS Unit - Install

Install the SRS unit (A) with the new TORX bolts (B), using a TORX T30 bit.





2.
Install the new TORX bolt (A) using a TORX T30 bit.






3.
Connect the SRS connectors A and B; push them into position until they click.

4.
Install the rear heater joint duct B (C), then Install the clip (D).

4. SRS Unit - Update

Make sure the SRS unit has the latest software. If it does not have the latest, update the software in the SRS unit.

5. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor - Initialize (
 
'16-17
 
USA and Canada models)

NOTE: After replacing the SRS unit with a new one, initialize the front passenger's weight sensors.


6. SRS Operation - Confirm

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

1. SRS Unit - Install

Install the SRS unit (A) with the new TORX bolts (B), using a TORX T30 bit.





2.
Install the new TORX bolt (A) using a TORX T30 bit, then install the carpets (B) and the hook and loop fastener (C).






3.
Connect the SRS connectors A and B; push them into position until they click.

4.
Install the rear heater joint duct B (C), then Install the clip (D).

4. SRS Unit - Update

Make sure the SRS unit has the latest software. If it does not have the latest, update the software in the SRS unit.
