NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information.

YES
     
     
     
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the relay circuit board and the PCM.?

Is DTC P16F3 and P16F4 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to the troubleshooting for DTC P16F3 and P16F4.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 3.

Determine possible failure area (ST RLY 1 TO 2 line, others):

Determine possible failure area (ST RLY 1 TO 2 line, others)

Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

Try to start the engine.

Does the engine start?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 4.
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 5.

Open wire check (ST RLY 1 TO 2 line):

Open wire check (ST RLY 1 TO 2 line)

Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Jump the SCS line with the HDS.


?3.
Disconnect the following connectors.

?4.
Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A
Relay circuit board connector A (8P) No. 8 (PUR)
Terminal B
Body ground


?5.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
OFF mode
Relay circuit board connector A (8P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector A (8P) No. 8 (PUR): jumped to body ground
PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
Test circuit
ST RLY 1 TO 2
Test point 1
PCM connector A (51P) No. 26 (PUR)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The ST RLY 1 TO 2 wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then do the repair verification.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the ST RLY 1 TO 2 wire between the relay circuit board and the PCM (A26), then do the repair verification.
5.
Fuse check:

Check the following fuse.

Is the fuse OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 6.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair a short in the wire between the No. B13 (15 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the appropriate initiator. Also replace the No. B13 (15 A) fuse, then do the repair verification.
6.
Open wire check (IG1 ACG line):

Open wire check (IG1 ACG line)

Disconnect the following connectors.

?2.
Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A
Relay circuit board connector A (8P) No. 4 (PNK)
Terminal B
Body ground


?3.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
OFF mode
Relay circuit board connector A (8P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector A (8P) No. 4 (PNK): jumped to body ground
Under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (18P): disconnected
Test circuit
IG1 ACG
Test point 1
Under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (18P) No. 11 (PNK)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The IG1 ACG wire is OK. Go to step 7.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the IG1 ACG wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the relay circuit board, then do the repair verification.

Relay circuit board check:

Is the relay circuit board OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair verification:

?1.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Reconnect all connectors.

?3.
Exit the SCS mode with the HDS.


?4.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0615 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the relay circuit board and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1.
     
NO
     
     
     
Troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.?
