DTC Troubleshooting: P1683
DTC P1683 : Throttle Valve Default Position Spring Performance Problem
Do not insert your fingers into the installed throttle body when you press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, or while the vehicle is in the ON mode. If you do, you will seriously injure your fingers if the throttle valve is activated.

Problem verification:

?1.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
?3.
Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load (A/T in P or N, M/T in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
?4.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, and wait for 10 seconds.
?5.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
?6.
Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P1683 indicated?
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the PCM.?

Throttle body default position spring check:

Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
?2.
Disconnect the intake air duct from the throttle body.
?3.
Push the throttle valve closed as shown.
?4.
Release the throttle valve.
Does the throttle valve return?
Repair verification:
?1.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
?4.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, and wait for 10 seconds.
?5.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
?6.
Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
