The HFL does not Phone book, TXT/E-mail
NOTE:
Check the vehicle battery condition first.
Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the General Troubleshooting Information.
Once the symptom is duplicated, contact the HFL customer service at 888-528-7876. Many HFL issues are related to the cell phone and not the HFL system.
Make sure the cell phone is properly paired.
See if you can duplicate the symptom in a known-good vehicle under the same conditions. If you can, it is probably a characteristic of the system.
Always use the customer's cell phone to successfully diagnose the problem.
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

Go to indicated HFL DTC troubleshooting.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 3.

Select the HFL in the Unit Check menu, and check HFL status.

Is HFL OK indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 6.

Go to step 4.

Open wire check (USB lines):

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

Disconnect the following connector.

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
 
Audio unit connector J (5P): disconnected

The USB wires are not open. Go to step 5.
     
NO
     
     
     
There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the HandsFreeLink control unit. Replace affected shielded harness.?

The failure is duplicated, go to step 7.
7.
HandsFreeLink control unit check (substitution):

HandsFreeLink control unit check (substitution)

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Substitute a known-good HandsFreeLink control unit.

?3.
Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.

Does the symptom go away?

Replace the original HandsFreeLink control unit.?
