DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P2074
DTC P2074:Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Signal Lower Than Expected General Description
The barometric pressure (BARO) sensor, the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, and the turbocharger boost sensor are equipped to the vehicle to detect air pressure conditions to the engine. The BARO sensor value and the turbocharger boost sensor value shows similar value at range "A" such as in idle conditions, and the turbocharger boost sensor value and MAP sensor value shows similar value at range "B" such as in high throttle position. Malfunction determinations are done by the powertrain control module (PCM) in two ranges by comparing the pressure sensor values.

Enable Conditions
Malfunction Threshold
Both range "A" (P00CF) and range "B" (P023D) determinations must be completed. The PCM stores DTC P2073 if the MAP sensor value is lower than the turbocharger boost sensor value for 27 kPa (200 mmHg, 7.9 inHg) or more* when range "A" determination is determined as normal and range "B" determination is determined as abnormal. *: Threshold value changes depending on throttle position. NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored. Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery. |
