DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0237, P0238
DTC P0237:Turbocharger Boost Sensor Circuit Low Voltage
DTC P0238:Turbocharger Boost Sensor Circuit High Voltage

General Description

The turbocharger boost sensor converts the measured pressure upstream of the throttle valve (boost pressure). The monitoring function checks the voltage range of the turbocharger boost sensor. If the turbocharger boost sensor output voltage is a specified value, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

DTC: P0237

The turbocharger boost sensor output voltage [TC Boost Pressure Sensor] is less than 0.16 V for at least 0.5 second.

DTC: P0238

The turbocharger boost sensor output voltage [TC Boost Pressure Sensor] is greater than 4.91 V for at least 0.5 second.

Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
DTC: P0237
Turbocharger boost sensor P3 line short to ground

DTC: P0238
Turbocharger boost sensor P3 line short to power
Turbocharger boost sensor P3 line open

Common
Turbocharger boost sensor failure
PCM internal circuit failure

Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
Start the engine, and let it idle.

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
