DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0190
DTC P0190:Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Out of Range

General Description

The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the sensor signal of the fuel rail pressure sensor for out of range malfunctions. If the fuel rail pressure sensor is within a specified value, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
Either of the conditions is met:
Out of range high
The fuel rail pressure sensor voltage [Fuel Pressure Converted From PF Sensor] is in the range of 4.75 V to 4.83 V for at least 1 second.
Out of range low
The fuel rail pressure sensor voltage [Fuel Pressure Converted From PF Sensor] is in the range of 0.24 V to 0.36 V for at least 1 second.

Fuel rail pressure sensor failure

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
