DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P2227
DTC P2227:Barometric Pressure (BARO) Sensor Circuit Out of Range High

General Description
The barometric pressure (BARO) sensor is built into the powertrain control module (PCM), and it monitors atmospheric pressure. The monitoring function checks the signal of the BARO sensor for implausible values by means of diverse criteria. If the difference between measured ambient pressure and the reference pressure is a specified value, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Any of the conditions occurs:
Continuity check
?
The absolute difference between measured ambient pressure and its delayed value is more than 10.0 kPa (75 mmHg, 2.96 inHg) and absolute difference between measured ambient pressure and the reference pressure is more than 1.5 kPa (12 mmHg, 0.45 inHg).
?
The absolute difference between the current and last drive cycle of ambient pressure is more than 255.996 kPa (1,920.13 mmHg, 75.5957 inHg) and absolute difference between measured ambient pressure and the reference pressure is more than 1.5 kPa (12 mmHg, 0.45 inHg).

Sensor comparison
?
The absolute difference between the reference pressure and the measured ambient pressure is more than 2.5 kPa (19 mmHg, 0.74 inHg).

Range check
?
The ambient air pressure is more than 116.5 kPa (874 mmHg, 34.41 inHg), or less than 38.5 kPa (288 mmHg, 11.36 inHg).

Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
PCM internal circuit failure

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
