DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0616
DTC P0616:Starter Cut Relay Diagnosis Circuit Low Voltage

General Description

The diagnosis of the starter cut relays are done at the engine starting operation with enable conditions for the diagnosis are fulfilled. To check both starter cut relays, the switching off sequence of the driver ICs are changed at the end of every starter operation. The testing of stuck starter cut relays are done by measuring the voltage at the starter cut relays when the starter is not active. If the voltage of starter cut relay diagnostic line is a specified value, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
