DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P2119
DTC P2119:Throttle Actuator Range
General Description
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the throttle actuator control for range/performance malfunctions. The limp home position of the valve is learned when the current reported by the throttle actuator driver IC is 0. If the limp home position of the throttle valve exceeds a specified range, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
Any of the conditions occur:
|
The difference between throttle position (TP) sensor A voltage at limp air position and TP sensor A voltage at lower mechanical stop is less than 0.09 V or greater than 0.51 V. |
|
The difference between throttle position (TP) sensor B voltage at lower mechanical stop and TP sensor B voltage at limp air position is less than 0.09 V or greater than 0.51 V. |
|
First learning performed
The throttle valve position is more than 18.9275 % or -0.49 % or less. |
|
First learning not performed
The throttle valve position is more than 15.9375 % or 2.5 % or less. |
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
|
Throttle valve stuck |
|
Throttle body failure |
|
PCM internal circuit failure |
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
1. |
Start the engine. Hold the engine speed [ENGINE SPEED] at 3,000 rpm without load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle. |
2. |
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, and wait 30 seconds. |
3. |
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode. |
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command. |
