DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P068A
DTC P068A:Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Power Source Circuit Unexpected Voltage

General Description

The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors PGM-FI main relay 1 circuit for electrical malfunctions. The early opening of PGM-FI main relay 1 circuit is monitored by recording whether PGM-FI main relay 1 circuit is switched off correctly at the last driving cycle. If the PGM-FI main relay 1 circuit was opened without command, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
Execution
Once per driving cycle
Sequence
None
Duration
0.5 second or more
DTC Type
One drive cycle, MIL off/two drive cycles, MIL on*
*: The detection drive cycle and the MIL may change depending on the vehicle condition when the fault is detected.

Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
PGM-FI main relay 1 FI MAIN RLY OUT line short to ground
PGM-FI main relay 1 FI MAIN RLY OUT line open
PGM-FI main relay 1 FI MAIN RLY CL- line open
Loss of energy
Fuse blown
PCM internal circuit failure

Diagnosis Details (for one drive cycle, MIL off)
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.

Diagnosis Details (for two drive cycles, MIL on)
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
