Steering Lock Removal and Installation

NOTE:

Unless otherwise indicated, illustrations used in the procedure are for without keyless access system.

2. Steering Lock - Remove

Center-punch both of the two shear bolts (A).

2.
Drill their heads off with a 5 mm (0.20 in) drill bit. Be careful not to damage the steering lock when removing the shear bolts.

NOTE: The shear bolts have left-hand threads.

3.
Remove the steering lock (B).

1. Steering Lock - Install


1.
Without keyless access system: Install the steering lock (A) without the key inserted.

2.
With keyless access system: Install the electric steering lock.

3.
Loosely tighten the new shear bolts (B).

NOTE: The shear bolts have left-hand threads.

4.
Without keyless access system: Insert the ignition key, and check for proper operation of the steering wheel lock and that the ignition key turns freely.





5.
Tighten the shear bolts (A) until the hex heads (B) twist off.
