DTC Troubleshooting: P101A
DTC P101A: VTC B Advance Malfunction
NOTE:
Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information.
If DTC P0366 is stored at the same time as DTC P101A, troubleshoot DTC P101A first, then recheck for DTC P0366.
If DTC P101A set after replacing the VTC actuator, verify that the correct timing marks on the crank pulley were used.

Clear the DTC with the HDS.

Start the engine.

Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
     
NO

VTC oil control solenoid valve B operation check:

Test VTC oil control solenoid valve B.

Is the solenoid valve OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 3.
     
NO
     
     
     
3.
VTC actuator B check:

VTC actuator B check
?1.
Inspect VTC actuator B.

Is the actuator OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
Check the VTC system oil passages and clean them if needed.?
     
NO
