Problem verification:

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?2.
Clear the DTC with the HDS.


?3.
Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0236 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at turbocharger boost sensor and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot.?

Check the parameters below with the HDS.

Compare the value of TC BOOST PRESSURE to the BARO SENSOR.

Is the difference in value between the sensors 26.7 kPa (7.9 inHg, 200 mmHg) or more?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 3.

Turbocharger boost sensor check 2:

Note the value of TC BOOST PRESSURE in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

?2.
Start the engine.

?3.
Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load (CVT in P or N, M/T in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.

?4.
Hold the engine speed at 4,500 rpm without load.

?5.
Check the parameter below with the HDS.

Does the value change 0.67 kPa (0.2 inHg, 5 mmHg) or more?

Problem verification (test-drive):

Problem verification (test-drive)

Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of these recorded on-board snapshot parameters:
ENGINE SPEED
VEHICLE SPEED
REL TP SENSOR
CLV (calculated load value)
APP SENSOR

?2.
Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0236 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the HDS indicate FAILED?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at turbocharger boost sensor and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, retest and check the OBD STATUS again.?
