Blower Power Transistor Test

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE: Before testing the power transistor, check for climate control DTCs.

3. Power Transistor - Test

1.
Disconnect the power transistor connector.

2.
Measure the resistance between terminals No. 1 and No. 3 of the power transistor. It should be about 1.5 k?.

If the resistance is within the specifications, go to step 3.
If the resistance is not within the specifications, replace the power transistor.
NOTE: Also check the blower motor. Power transistor failure can be caused by a defective blower motor.

3.
Reconnect the connector to the power transistor.

4.
Disconnect the climate control unit connector.

5.
Connect climate control unit 32P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 4 with a jumper wire.

6.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

7.
Check that the blower motor runs.
If the blower motor does not run, replace the power transistor.
NOTE: A faulty blower motor can cause the power transistor to fail. Before replacing the power transistor, check the blower motor for binding, and replace the blower motor if necessary.
If the blower motor runs, the power transistor is OK.

4. All Removed Parts - Install

1.
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
