Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

Is DTC 83-43 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.?
2.
Open wire check (SWSP4 line):

Open wire check (SWSP4 line)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side) 3P connector (A) on the front passenger's seat wire harness.


?3.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?4.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle ON mode
Front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side) 3P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
Test point 1
Front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side) 3P connector No. 1 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there about 5 V?

     
YES
     
     
     
The SWSP4 wire is OK. Go to step 3.
     
NO
     
     
     
Open in the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the front passenger's seat wire harness, then clear the DTC.?
3.
Shorted wire check (SWS4 line):

Shorted wire check (SWS4 line)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.
Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector B (6P)

?3.
Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector B (6P): disconnected
 
Front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side) 3P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
Test point 1
Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector B (6P) No. 5
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 M??

     
YES
     
     
     
The SWS4 wire is not shorted. Go to step 4.
     
NO
     
     
     
Short to ground in the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the front passenger's seat wire harness, then clear the DTC.?

Shorted wire check (SWS4 line to SWS4G line):

Shorted wire check (SWS4 line to SWS4G line)

Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector B (6P): disconnected
 
Front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side) 3P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
Test point 1
Front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side) 3P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
Test point 2
Front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side) 3P connector No. 3 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)


Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 M??

     
YES
     
     
     
The SWS4 and SWS4G wires are not shorted. Go to step 5.
     
NO
     
     
     
Short to another wire in the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the front passenger's seat wire harness, then clear the DTC.?
5.
Open wire check (SWS4 lines):

Open wire check (SWS4 lines)
?1.
Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector B (6P): disconnected
Front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side) 3P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
Test point 1
Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector B (6P) No. 5
Test point 2
Front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side) 3P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)


Is there 1.0 ? or less?

     
YES
     
     
     
Faulty front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side); replace the front passenger's seat rail including all four front passenger's weight sensors, then clear the DTC.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Open in the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the front passenger's seat wire harness, then clear the DTC.?
