DTC Troubleshooting: P0630

DTC P0630: VIN Not Programmed or Mismatch

NOTE:

	Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information.
	This DTC is stored only when the PCM does not have the VIN information of the vehicle. Use the HDS to input the missing VIN information.

VIN check:

VIN check

?1.	Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?2.	Check the VIN with the HDS.

Does the HDS show the vehicle's VIN?


	YES

Go to step 4.


	NO

Go to step 2.

VIN check (rewrite):

VIN check (rewrite)

?1.	Input the correct VIN to the PCM with the HDS.

Does the HDS show COMPLETE?


	YES

Go to step 4.


	NO

Go to step 3.

DTC check:

DTC check

?1.

Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

DTC Description	Confirmed DTC	Pending DTC	Freeze Frame
P062F PCM Internal Control Module Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error

Is DTC P062F indicated?


	YES

Go to the troubleshooting for DTC P062F.?


	NO

Go to step 4.

PCM check:

PCM check

?1.	Clear the DTC with the HDS.

?2.	Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?3.	Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 5 seconds.

?4.

Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

P0630 VIN Not Programmed or Mismatch

Is DTC P0630 indicated?


	YES

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If DTC P0630 goes away and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC P0630 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM.?


	NO

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.?
