1.
Clutch pedal position switch installation check:

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

Check clutch pedal position switches A/C, and B/D installation.

Is it damaged or loose?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 2.
2.
Clutch pedal position switch signal check:

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?2.
Check CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH A, A (C), and D in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Press the clutch pedal slowly, and check the value (OPEN or CLOSE) change timing of CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH A, A (C), and D, and compare them to the following table.

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at clutch pedal position switches A/C, B/D, and the PCM. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.?

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

Jump the SCS line with the HDS.


?3.
Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector A (51P)

?4.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
 
Clutch pedal position switch A/C 4P connector: disconnected
 
PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
 
Clutch pedal position switch A 4P connector No. 4: jumped to body ground
Test point 1
Test point 2
Body ground

Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The CLUTCH SW(SA) wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If DTC P1703 goes away and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC P1703 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM.?

Repair an open in the CLUTCH SW(SA) wire between the PCM (A10) and clutch pedal position switch A/C.?

Repair a short in the CLUTCH SW(SA) wire between clutch pedal position switch A/C and the PCM (A10).?
     
NO
     
     
     
The CLUTCH SW(SA) wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If DTC P1703 goes away and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC P1703 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM.?

Clutch pedal position switch C signal check (stuck OPEN or CLOSE):

The CLUTCH SW(SHIFT UP) wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If DTC P1703 goes away and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC P1703 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM.?

The CLUTCH SW(SHIFT UP) wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If DTC P1703 goes away and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC P1703 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM.?
