Rear Brake Disc Removal and Installation

NOTE: Keep grease away from the brake disc and the brake pads.

1. Vehicle - Lift


2. Rear Wheel - Remove


3. Parking Brake - Release

Release the parking brake lever fully.

4. Parking Brake Cable - Disconnect

Remove the parking brake cable mounting bolt (A).

2.
Disconnect the parking brake cable (B) from the lever (C).

NOTE: Be careful not to bend or distort the cable and boot (D).

5. Brake Caliper - Remove


1.
Remove the brake hose mounting bolt (A).

2.
Remove the caliper assembly (B).

NOTE:
To prevent damage to the caliper assembly or brake hose, use a short piece of wire to hang the caliper assembly from the undercarriage.
Do not twist the brake hose excessively.

6. Brake Disc - Remove


1.
Remove the brake disc flathead screws (A).

2.
Remove the brake disc (B).

NOTE: If the brake disc is stuck to the hub bearing unit, thread two 8 x 1.25 mm bolts (C) into the brake disc to push it away from the hub bearing unit. Turn each bolt 90 degrees at a time to prevent the brake disc from binding.


NOTE: Keep grease away from the brake disc and the brake pads.

1. Brake Disc - Install


1.
Install the brake disc (A).

NOTE: Before installing the brake disc, clean the mating surfaces between the hub bearing unit and the inside of the brake disc.

Install the brake disc flathead screws (B).

2. Brake Disc Runout - Inspect


3. Brake Caliper - Install


1.
Install the caliper assembly (A).

2.
Install the brake hose mounting bolt (B).

4. Parking Brake Cable - Connect


1.
Connect the parking brake cable (A) to the lever (B).

NOTE: Be careful not to bend or distort the cable and boot (C).

2.
Install the parking brake cable mounting bolt (D).

5. Rear Wheel - Install


6. Parking Brake - Adjust
