Key Interlock Solenoid Test

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

1. Column Cover - Remove


2. Key Interlock Solenoid - Test


1.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

2.
Disconnect the steering lock connector.

3.
Turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY (I).

4.
Connect the positive battery terminal to steering lock connector terminal No. 1, and connect the negative battery terminal to terminal No. 4. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0). Release the battery terminals, and check that the key can be turned to the LOCK (0) position and removed from the cylinder.

If the key interlock solenoid does not work properly, the key interlock solenoid is faulty; replace the steering lock (A).

6.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

7.
Connect the steering lock connector.
