SRS Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment
1. Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment - Inspect

NOTE:
If the harness is broken or damaged in the areas relevant to the replacement parts shown below, replace the harness, do not repair it.
Before doing any SRS repairs, check for DTCs with the HDS, for the less obvious deployed components (front seat belt tensioners, front impact sensors, side impact sensors, etc.).
USA and Canada models: Do not replace the front passenger's weight sensor unit unless it is physically damaged or a specific fault was found during DTC troubleshooting because it could complicate troubleshooting other DTCs.
USA and Canada models: After a vehicle collision, do the front passenger's weight sensor unit operation check.

After a collision where the front seat belt tensioners deployed, replace these items:
SRS unit
Front seat belt(s)
Front impact sensor(s)

After a collision where the front airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
SRS unit
Deployed front airbag(s)
Front seat belt(s)
Front impact sensor(s)
Dashboard (deployed front passenger's airbag)

After a collision where the side airbag deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
SRS unit
Deployed side airbag(s)
Side impact sensor(s) (first)
Side impact sensor(s) (second)
Side impact sensor(s) (third) (2-door)
Rear safing sensor (USA and Canada models)
B-pillar lower trim (4-door)
Rear side trim panel (2-door)
Seat frame and related parts

After a collision where the side curtain airbag deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
SRS unit
Deployed side curtain airbag(s)
Front seat belt(s)
Side impact sensor(s) (first)
Side impact sensor(s) (second)
Side impact sensor(s) (third) (2-door)
Rear safing sensor (USA and Canada models)
A-pillar trim
B-pillar upper trim
Quarter pillar trim (2-door)
C-pillar trim (4-door)
Front grab handle
Rear grab handle (4-door)
All related trim clips
Sunvisor
Headliner

After a moderate to severe side or rear collision, inspect for any damage on the side curtain airbag or other related components. Replace the components as needed.

A-Pillar Trim

B-Pillar Upper Trim (2-door)

B-Pillar Upper/Lower Trim (4-door)

Quarter Pillar Trim (2-door)

C-Pillar Trim (4-door)
During the repair process, inspect these areas:
Inspect all the SRS wire harnesses. Replace, do not repair, any damaged harnesses.
Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel.

After the vehicle is completely repaired, turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode. If the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off, the SRS is OK. If the indicator does not function properly, use the HDS to check for the DTCs. If you cannot retrieve a code, do the SRS Symptom Troubleshooting.

2. Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap - Check (2-door)

Checking and Adjusting the Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap

NOTE: The illustrations show the A-pillar trim.

To prevent the side curtain airbag from deploying and damaging the pillar trim (A-pillar trim and B-pillar upper trim), the overlap between the headliner and pillar trim must be 8.0 ?0/?3.0 mm (0.315 ?0/?0.118 in). To check the overlap, do this:

1.
Install the headliner (A) and the pillar trim (B).

2.
Apply masking tape (A) to the headliner (B) to mark the upper edge of the pillar trim (C).

3.
Remove the pillar trim, and measure the headliner overlap.

If the overlap is 8.0 ?0/?3.0 mm (0.315 ?0/?0.118 in), remove the tape, and install the pillar trim.
If the overlap is more than 8.0 mm (0.315 in), go to step 4.

4.
Carefully trim the headliner with a utility knife, reducing the overlap to 8.0 ?0/?3.0 mm (0.315 ?0/?0.118 in).

5.
Remove the tape, and install the pillar trim.

3. Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap - Check (4-door)

Checking and Adjusting the Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap

NOTE: The illustrations show the A-pillar trim.

To prevent the side curtain airbag from deploying and damaging the pillar trim (A-pillar trim, B-pillar upper trim, and C-pillar trim), the overlap between the headliner and pillar trim must be 8.0 ?0/?2.0 mm (0.315 ?0/?0.079 in). To check the overlap, do this:

1.
Install the headliner (A) and the pillar trim (B).

2.
Apply masking tape (A) to the headliner (B) to mark the upper edge of the pillar trim (C).

3.
Remove the pillar trim, and measure the headliner overlap.

If the overlap is 8.0 ?0/?2.0 mm (0.315 ?0/?0.079 in), remove the tape, and install the pillar trim.
If the overlap is more than 8.0 mm (0.315 in), go to step 4.

4.
Carefully trim the headliner with a utility knife, reducing the overlap to 8.0 ?0/?2.0 mm (0.315 ?0/?0.079 in).

5.
Remove the tape, and install the pillar trim.
