NOTE: Paint mark (A) indicates the knuckle ball joint has been replaced. Do not replace the ball joint with the paint mark; you must replace the knuckle as an assembly.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the ball joint boot when installing the ball joint remover.

Knuckle/Hub Assembly - Move Aside
Pull the knuckle (A) outward, and separate the outboard joint (B) from the front hub using a soft face hammer outward, then move aside the knuckle/hub.
NOTE: Do not pull the driveshaft end outward. The inner driveshaft inboard joint may come apart.
7.
Knuckle Ring and Boot - Remove
1.
Remove the front knuckle ring (A).
2.
Remove the boot (B), then wipe grease off the exposed portion of the ball joint.
8.
Knuckle Ball Joint - Remove
1.
Position the remover, the remover base C, the adapter G, and the C-frame OTC7248, commercially available to the knuckle ball joint (A) as shown.
2.
Tighten the pressure bolt (B) of the C-frame, and remove the knuckle ball joint.
NOTE: When tightening the pressure bolt, make sure the tools are properly aligned with the knuckle (C) and the ball joint.

Knuckle Ball Joint - Install
1.
Clean the mating surfaces of the new knuckle ball joint (A) and the knuckle (B).
2.
Position the installation receiver, the adapter E, and the C-frame OTC7248, commercially available to the ball joint as shown.
3.
Tighten the pressure bolt (C) of the C-frame until the knuckle ball joint shoulder is fully seated in the knuckle.
NOTE: When tightening the pressure bolt, make sure the knuckle and the ball joint are properly aligned.
4.
Using a yellow oil-based paint marker, paint a mark (A) on the top of the knuckle ball joint as shown.
NOTE: The paint mark is used to identify a knuckle that has had the ball joint replaced.
Apply about 5 g (0.18 oz) of moly 60 paste (P/N 08734-0001) to the contact area (A) of the outboard joint and the front wheel bearing.

Install the knuckle/hub (B).
4.
Knuckle Ball Joint - Connect
1.
Connect the knuckle ball joint to the lower arm.
2.
Install the new castle nut (A).
NOTE: Torque the castle nut to the lower torque specification, then tighten it only far enough to align the slot with the ball joint pin hole. Do not align the castle nut by loosening it.
3.
Install the lock pin (B) as shown.
5.
Spindle Nut - Install
1.
Apply a small amount of engine oil to the seating surface of a new spindle nut (A).
2.
Install the spindle nut.
3.
Use a drift to stake the spindle nut shoulder (B) against the driveshaft.
6.
Damper/Spring Items - Install
1.
Install the wheel speed sensor harness clip (A) and the wire guide (B).
