NOTE: Special tool engine support hanger AAR-T1256 must be used with the side engine mount installed.

6. PCM with Bracket - Remove
1.
Disconnect the connectors (A).
2.
Remove the harness clamps (B).
3.
Remove the harness holder (C).
4.
Remove the PCM (D) with the bracket.

7. Battery Base - Remove
1.
Remove the harness clamps (A).
2.
Remove the battery base (B).

8. Transmission Hanger C - Remove

9. Change Wire Bracket - Remove
1.
Remove the lock pins (A).
2.
Remove the change wire bracket bolts (B).
3.
Disconnect the change wire from the change lever assembly (C).
4.
Carefully remove the change wire and the change wire bracket (D) together to avoid bending the change wire.

10. Slave Cylinder - Remove
1.
Remove the clutch line bracket (A).

2.
Remove the slave cylinder (B).

3.
Carefully move the slave cylinder out of the way to avoid bending the clutch line.

NOTE:
Do not press the clutch pedal after the slave cylinder has been moved.
Do not disconnect the clutch line joints.

11. Connector (Reverse Lockout Solenoid, Output Shaft (Countershaft) Speed Sensor, and Back-Up Light Switch) - Disconnect

1.
Remove the harness clamp brackets (A).
2.
Disconnect the connectors (A).
3.
Remove the harness clamp bracket (B).

12. High Pressure Fuel Pump Cover - Remove

13. Fuel Bracket - Remove
1.
Remove the harness clamps (A).
2.
Disconnect the connectors (B).
3.
Remove the harness clamps (A).
4.
Remove the harness holder (B).
5.
Unclamp the heater hoses (A).
6.
Remove the fuel bracket (B).

14. EVAP Canister Purge Valve - Remove
1.
Disconnect the connector (A).
2.
Remove the EVAP canister purge valve (B).

15. Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install
1.
Install the universal lifting eyelet with a spacer (A).

16. Engine Support Hanger - Install
1.
Remove the front damper caps (A).
2.
Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the universal lifting eyelet. Tighten the wing nut (B) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.
NOTE:
Be careful when working around the windshield.
Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.

17. Upper Transmission Mounting Bolt - Remove

18. Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Loosen
1.
Loosen the transmission mount bracket mounting bolts (A).

19. Upper Transmission Mount - Remove
1.
Remove the ground cable terminal (A).
2.
Remove the upper transmission mount (B).
NOTE: Do not remove the bolt (C). If the bolt is removed, the upper transmission mount must be replaced as an assembly.

20. Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove
1.
Remove the front engine mount stop (A) with the clamp bracket (B).
2.
Remove the front engine mount mounting bolt (A).

31. Front Engine Mount Vacuum Pipe - Disconnect
1.
Disconnect the front engine mount vacuum pipe (A).
2.
Remove the pipe clamp (B).

32. Front Subframe - Support
1.
Attach the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) by looping the strap (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the strap with the stop (B), and tighten the wing nut (C).
2.
Raise a transmission jack and line up the slots in the arms with the bolt holes on the corner of the jack base, then tighten the bolts.

33. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Loosen
1.
Loosen the front subframe middle mount rubber mounting bolts (A) on both sides.

34. Lower Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Remove

35. Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

37. Transmission - Support
1.
Lift and support the transmission with the transmission jack and the wood block.

38. Driveshaft Inboard Joint - Disconnect
2.
Secure the driveshaft to the body with a nylon strap on both sides.

40. Clutch Cover - Remove

41. Rear Engine Mount Bracket - Remove

42. Transmission - Remove

1.
Remove the lower transmission mounting bolts (A).
2.
Pull the transmission away from the engine until the transmission mainshaft clears the clutch pressure plate.
3.
Slowly lower the transmission about 150 mm (5.91 in).
4.
Check once again that all hoses and harness are disconnected and free from the transmission.
5.
Lower the transmission.

2. Transmission - Install
1.
Make sure the two dowel pins (A) are undamaged and installed in prescribed holes on the engine block as shown. Replace the dowel pins if they are damaged.
2.
Place the transmission on the transmission jack, and raise it to the engine level.
3.
Align the transmission mainshaft and the clutch pressure plate.
4.
Move the transmission inward until there is no clearance between the transmission housing and the engine block.

Install the lower transmission mounting bolts (A).

3. Rear Engine Mount Bracket - Install

4. Clutch Cover - Install

7. Front Subframe - Install
1.
Attach the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) by looping the strap (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the strap with the stop (B), and tighten the wing nut (C).
2.
Raise a transmission jack and line up the slots in the arms with the bolt holes on the corner of the jack base, then tighten the bolts.
3.
Raise the front subframe up to the body.
5.
Remove the subframe adapter and the transmission jack.

8. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Tighten

9. Lower Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install

10. Lower Transmission Mount Mounting Nut - Loosen

11. Front Engine Mount Vacuum Pipe - Connect
1.
Connect the front engine mount vacuum pipe (A) to the front engine mount vacuum hose (B) until contacting the bulge (C).
2.
Install the pipe clamp (D).

18. Vehicle - Lift
1.
Lower the vehicle.

20. Upper Transmission Mount - Install
1.
Position the upper transmission mount (A), and tighten new transmission mount mounting bolts (B).
2.
Install new upper transmission mount bracket base bolts (C).
3.
Install the ground cable terminal (D).

21. Upper Transmission Mounting Bolt - Install

22. Engine - Support
1.
Lift and support the engine/transmission with a floor jack and a wood block under the engine/transmission.

23. Engine Support Hanger and Universal Lifting Eyelet - Remove
1.
Remove the engine support hanger and the universal lifting eyelet.
2.
Install the front damper caps.

24. Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install

25. Side Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Loosen
1.
Loosen the side engine mount mounting bolt (A).

26. Floor Jack and Wood Block - Remove
1.
Remove the floor jack and the wood block.

27. Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Install
1.
Install a new front engine mount mounting bolt (A).
2.
Install the front engine mount stop (A) and the clamp bracket (B) using new nuts (C).

28. Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Tighten

29. Lower Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Tighten

30. Lower Transmission Mount Mounting Nut - Tighten

31. Side Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Tighten

32. Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Tighten

33. EVAP Canister Purge Valve - Install
1.
Install the EVAP canister purge valve (A).
2.
Connect the connector (B).

34. Fuel Bracket - Install
1.
Install the fuel bracket (A).
2.
Clamp the heater hoses (B).
3.
Install the harness holder (A).
4.
Install the harness clamps (B).
5.
Connect the connectors (A).
6.
Install the harness clamps (B).

35. High Pressure Fuel Pump Cover - Install

36. Connector (Reverse Lockout Solenoid, Output Shaft (Countershaft) Speed Sensor, and Back-Up Light Switch) - Connect
1.
Connect the connectors (A).
2.
Install the harness clamp bracket (B).

3.
Install the harness clamp brackets (A).

37. Slave Cylinder - Install
1.
Install the clutch line bracket (A).
NOTE: Be careful not to bend the clutch line.
2.
Apply a light coat of super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798-9002) to the push rod (B) of the slave cylinder (C).
3.
Install the slave cylinder.

38. Change Wire Bracket - Install
1.
Apply a light coat of silicone grease (P/N 08C30- B0234M) to the change wire ends (A).
NOTE: Make sure not to get any silicone grease on the terminal part of the connectors and switches, especially if you have silicone grease on your hands or gloves.
2.
Connect the change wire ends to the change lever assembly (B).
3.
Install the change wire bracket (C).
4.
Install the lock pins (D).
5.
Check that the transmission shifts into all gears smoothly.

39. Transmission Hanger C - Install

40. Battery Base - Install
1.
Install the battery base (A).
2.
Install the harness clamps (B).

41. PCM with Bracket - Install
1.
Install the PCM (A) with the bracket.
2.
Install the harness holder (B).
3.
Connect the connectors (C).
4.
Install the harness clamps (D).

50. Test Drive - Check
1.
Test-drive the vehicle.
