Final Drive Shaft Secondary Driven Gear Removal and Installation
2. Secondary Driven Gear - Remove


1.
Remove the cotter retainer (A).

2.
Remove the 38 mm cotters (B).






3.
Place the secondary driven gear (A) on the press, and set the spacer between the press and the final drive shaft to prevent damaging the final drive shaft.

4.
Support the bottom of the final drive shaft with one hand, then press the final drive shaft out of the secondary driven gear, and remove the final drive shaft holding the final drive shaft. The final drive shaft will drop down after pressing it out of the secondary driven gear.

1. Secondary Driven Gear - Install

NOTE: Make sure to assemble the final drive shaft and the final driven gear correctly (Combination A or B) as shown in the chart if either one of them or both are to be replaced. Correct combinations of the shaft and gear can be identified by the presence or the absence of the groove as shown in the chart.

Apply transmission fluid to the splines of the final drive shaft.

2.
Install the secondary driven gear (A) until it bottoms in the direction shown using a press.






3.
Clean the cotter groove of the final drive shaft.

4.
Install the 38 mm cotters (A).

5.
Install the cotter retainer (B).
