NOTE:
Air temperature must be between 59?100 °F (15?38 °C) during this procedure.
The battery must be in good condition and fully charged.

Keyless access system check:

Is the vehicle in ON mode?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
2.
Starting system check:

With the shift lever in P and with the brake pedal pressed, press the engine start/stop button to select the START mode.

Did the starter crank the engine?

     
YES
     
     
     
The system is OK at this time.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 3.

Electrical connection check (at battery):

Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Check electrical connections at the battery.

Is the connection OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 4.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair the electrical connection(s) at the battery.?

Open wire check (+B BATTERY line):

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Is there battery voltage?

Go to step 5.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the +B BATTERY wire between the starter B terminal and the battery.?

Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the PCM.

Does the HDS communicate with the vehicle?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 6.
     
NO
     
     
     
6.
PGM-FI, A/T, and Keyless Access Control system DTC check:

PGM-FI, A/T, and Keyless Access Control system DTC check
?1.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?2.
Check for PGM-FI, A/T, and Keyless Access Control system DTCs with the HDS. If you fail to enter the SYSTEM SELECTION MENU with the HDS, go to the keyless access system symptom troubleshooting "Cannot select ON mode with keyless access and with the keyless remote touched the engine start/stop switch".

Check that the P position indicator in the gauge control module comes on.

Does the P position indicator come on?

     
YES

Repair an open in the PG wire between the transmission range switch and ground (G101). If the PG wire was OK, replace the transmission range switch.?

When repeatedly pressing and releasing the brake pedal, check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

The keyless access control unit internal STOP SW circuit is open. Replace the keyless access control unit.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the STOP SW wire between the brake pedal position switch and the keyless access control unit.?

Determine possible failure area (open in STC line, short in STC line):

?6.
Press the engine start/stop button and hold it.

?7.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Is there battery voltage?

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, and the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original PCM.?

Disconnect the following connector.

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

The keyless access control unit internal STC circuit is open. Replace the keyless access control unit.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the STC wire between the keyless access control unit and the PCM.?

Repair a short in the STC wire between the keyless access control unit and the PCM.?

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
