Engine Lubrication System Symptom Troubleshooting - Low oil pressure indicator stays on (V6)

Engine oil level check:

Engine oil level check

?1.	Connect the HDS to the DLC.

?2.	Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?3.	Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the PCM. If it does not communicate, troubleshoot the DLC circuit.

?4.	Check for DTCs. If a DTC is present, diagnose, and repair the cause before continuing with this test.

?5.	Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?6.	Check the engine oil level.

Is the engine oil level normal?


	YES

Go to step 3.


	NO

Add engine oil to the normal level, then go to step 2.

Low oil pressure indicator check:

?1.	Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

Does the low oil pressure indicator go off?


	YES

Check the following items:?

	Check for oil leaks.
	Check for worn valve guide(s) or worn valve seal(s).
	Check for damaged or worn piston ring(s).
	Check for damaged or worn engine internal parts (cylinder wall, pistons, etc.).


	NO

Go to step 3.

3.

Oil pressure test:

?1.	Do the oil pressure test.

Does the oil pressure OK?


	YES

Check the following items:?

	Oil filter blocked or plugged.
	Oil strainer blocked or plugged.
	Inspect the oil pressure relief valve.


	NO

Go to step 4.

Determine possible failure area (gauge control module, others):

Determine possible failure area (gauge control module, others)

?1.	Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode and install the rocker arm oil pressure sensor.

?2.

Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

	Lower than 0.194	kgf/cm²

Do the current condition(s) match the threshold?


	YES

Go to step 6.


	NO

Go to step 5.

5.

Gauge control module test:

Gauge control module test

?1.	Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.	Jump the SCS line with the HDS. NOTE: This step must be done to protect the PCM from damage.

?3.

Disconnect the following connector.

PCM connector B (51P)

?4.	Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

Does the low oil pressure indicator go off?


	YES

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM.?


	NO

Replace the gauge control module.?

6.

Oil pressure sensor test:

Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

Do the current condition(s) match the threshold?


	YES

Replace the rocker arm oil pressure sensor.?


	NO

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM.?
