The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the rocker arm oil pressure sensor and the PCM.?
2.
Determine possible failure area (Rocker arm oil pressure sensor, others):

Determine possible failure area (Rocker arm oil pressure sensor, others)
?1.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.

?3.
Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 1 (GRY)
Terminal B
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 2 (PUR)


?4.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?5.
Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

Determine possible failure area (OP SENSOR line, VCC2 line):

Determine possible failure area (OP SENSOR line, VCC2 line)

Remove the jumper wire from the rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector.

?2.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition

Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector: disconnected
Test circuit
SG2, VCC2
Test point 1
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 1 (GRY)
Test point 2
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 3 (GRN)


Is there about 5.0 V?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 5.
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 4.
4.
Open wire check (SG2 line):

Open wire check (SG2 line)
?1.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Jump the SCS line with the HDS.


?3.
Disconnect the following connector.

?4.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

OFF mode
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector: disconnected
PCM connector B (51P): disconnected
Test circuit
SG2
Test point 1
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 1 (GRY)
Test point 2
PCM connector B (51P) No. 45 (GRY)


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The SG2 wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then do the repair verification.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the SG2 wire between the rocker arm oil pressure sensor and the PCM (B45), then do the repair verification.
5.
Open wire check (OP SENSOR line):

Open wire check (OP SENSOR line)

Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Jump the SCS line with the HDS.


?3.
Disconnect the following connector.

?4.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
OFF mode
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector: disconnected
PCM connector B (51P): disconnected
Test circuit
OP SENSOR
Test point 1
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 2 (PUR)
Test point 2
PCM connector B (51P) No. 47 (PUR)


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The OP SENSOR wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then do the repair verification.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the OP SENSOR wire between the rocker arm oil pressure sensor and the PCM (B47), then do the repair verification.
Repair verification (OBD STATUS check):

?1.
Reconnect all connectors.

?2.
Exit the SCS mode with the HDS.


?3.
Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?4.

?6.
Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0523 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the HDS indicate PASSED, FAILED, or NOT COMPLETED?

     
PASSED
     
     
     
Troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.?
     
FAILED
     
     
     
Go to step 1 and recheck. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM, then check the OBD STATUS again.
     
NOT COMPLETED
     
     
     
Keep idling until a result comes on.
