DTC P154A: Battery Sensor Internal Failure
NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information.

P154A Battery Sensor Internal Failure
     

1.
Problem verification:

Problem verification
?1.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?2.
Clear the DTC with the HDS, and wait for 10 seconds.


?3.
Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P154A indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the battery sensor and the PCM.?
2.
Determine possible failure area (battery sensor, others):

Determine possible failure area (battery sensor, others)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.

?3.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
 
Battery sensor 3P connector: disconnected
Test circuit
+B INTR LT
Test point 1
Battery sensor 3P connector No. 1 (GRN)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 3.

Fuse check:

Fuse check
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Check the following fuse.

No. A20 (7.5 A)
Location
Under-hood fuse/relay box

Is the fuse OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
Repair an open in the +B INTR LT wire between the battery sensor and the No. A20 (7.5 A) fuse, then do the repair verification.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair a short in the +B INTR LT wire between the battery sensor and the No. A20 (7.5 A) fuse. Also replace the No. A20 (7.5 A) fuse, then do the repair verification.
Repair verification:

?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Reconnect all connectors.

?3.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?4.
Clear the DTC with the HDS, and wait for 10 seconds.


?5.
Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P154A indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the battery sensor and the gauge control module, then go to step 1.
     
NO
     
     
     
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.?
