B1077 Windshield Wiper Motor (Park) Signal Error
 

NOTE: Refer to the Electrical Wiring Diagrams for the location of the under-dash fuse/relay box connectors.

1.
Determine possible failure area (windshield wiper motor and its drive circuit, FR WIPER AS line):

Determine possible failure area (windshield wiper motor and its drive circuit, FR WIPER AS line)
?1.
Clear the DTCs with the HDS.


?2.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode and then the ON mode.

?3.
Turn the windshield wiper switch to LOW or HIGH for 15 seconds or more, then turn the switch OFF.

Does the wiper motor work?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 5.

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

YES
     
     
     
Go to step 3.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.?

Windshield wiper motor check (AS signal):

Windshield wiper motor check (AS signal)
?1.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.

Does the wiper motor run and does it pulse normally?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 4.
     
NO
     
     
     
4.
Open or shorted wire check (FR WIPER AS line):

Open or shorted wire check (FR WIPER AS line)
?1.
Disconnect the following connectors.

?2.
Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A
Windshield wiper motor 4P connector No. 4 (WHT)
Terminal B
Body ground


?3.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
Windshield wiper motor 4P connector: disconnected
Under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (36P): disconnected
Windshield wiper motor 4P connector No. 4: jumped to body ground
Test circuit
FR WIPER AS
Test point 1
Under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (36P) No. 28 (WHT)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
Repair a short to ground in the wire.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
5.
Fuse check:

Is each fuse OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 6.
     
NO
     
     
     
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground in the No. A12-8 (30 A) and/or No. No. B12 (7.5 A) fuse circuit(s).?
6.
Open wire check (+B WIPER line):

Open wire check (+B WIPER line)

Disconnect the following connectors.

?2.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
Relay circuit board connector B (14P): disconnected
Test circuit
+B WIPER
Test point 1
Relay circuit board connector B (14P) No. 10 (RED)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The +B WIPER wire is OK. Go to step 7.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
7.
Open wire check (IG1 WIPER line):

Open wire check (IG1 WIPER line)
?1.
Disconnect the following connector.

?2.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?3.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG ON (II) or ON mode
Relay circuit board connector B (14P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector C (10P): disconnected
Test circuit
IG1 WIPER
Test point 1
Relay circuit board connector C (10P) No. 7 (PNK)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The IG1 WIPER wire is OK. Go to step 8.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
8.
Open wire check (GND line) 1:

Open wire check (GND line) 1

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
Relay circuit board connector B (14P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector C (10P): disconnected
Test circuit
GND
Test point 1
Relay circuit board connector B (14P) No. 3 (BLK)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
GND wire is OK. Go to step 9.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G301).?

Is the relay circuit board OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 10.
     
NO
     
     
     
Replace the relay circuit board.?

Open wire check (FR WIPER INT RLY CL- line):

Disconnect the following connector.

?2.
Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

Relay circuit board connector B (14P) No. 12 (PUR)

Body ground


?3.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
Under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (36P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector B (14P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector C (10P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector B (14P) No. 12: jumped to body ground

Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The FR WIPER INT RLY CL- wire is OK. Go to step 11.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?

Open wire check (WIPER HI/LO RLY CL- line):

Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
Under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (36P): disconnected

Relay circuit board connector C (10P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector B (14P) No. 4: jumped to body ground

Is there continuity?

The WIPER HI/LO RLY CL- wire is OK. Go to step 12.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
12.
Open wire check (FR WIPER HI line):

Disconnect the following connector.

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
OFF mode
Under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (36P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector B (14P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector C (10P): disconnected
Windshield wiper motor 4P connector: disconnected

FR WIPER HI

Relay circuit board connector B (14P) No. 2 (GRY)
Test point 2
Windshield wiper motor 4P connector No. 3 (GRY)


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The FR WIPER HI wire is OK. Go to step 13.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
13.
Open wire check (FR WIPER LO line):

Open wire check (FR WIPER LO line)

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
OFF mode
Under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (36P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector B (14P): disconnected
Relay circuit board connector C (10P): disconnected
Windshield wiper motor 4P connector: disconnected
Test circuit
FR WIPER LO
Test point 1
Relay circuit board connector B (14P) No. 11 (ORN)
Test point 2
Windshield wiper motor 4P connector No. 1 (ORN)


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The FR WIPER LO wire is OK. Go to step 14.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.?
