Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 2.

Test-drive the vehicle at 6 mph (10 km/h) or more.

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Check for DTCs in the gauge control module with the HDS.

Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.?

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

Check the following fuse.

Is the fuse OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 6.
     
NO
     
     
     
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground on the No. A2-1 (70 A) fuse circuit.?

The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 7.
     
NO
     
     
     
Replace the fuse. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then turn it to LOCK (0) again, or select the ON mode, then the OFF mode. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground on the No. B10 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.?

Open wire check (+B EPS line):

Open wire check (+B EPS line)

Disconnect the following connector.

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
 
EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
Test circuit

Body ground


Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The +B EPS wire is OK. Go to step 8.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.?

Open wire check (IG1 VSA/ABS line):

Open wire check (IG1 VSA/ABS line)

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG ON (II) or ON mode
 
EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
Test circuit
IG1 VSA/ABS
Test point 1
EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 9 (YEL)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The IG1 VSA/ABS wire is OK. Go to step 9.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.?
9.
Open wire check (GND line):

Open wire check (GND line)
?1.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Reconnect the following connector.

?3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?4.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG ON (II) or ON mode
Test circuit
GND
Test point 1
EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 1 (BLK)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there 0.1 V or less?

     
YES
     
     
     
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 10.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and body ground (G402).?

EPS control unit check (update):

Update the EPS control unit if it does not have the latest software.

Start the engine.

Check the EPS indicator.

Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?
