Test-drive the vehicle.

Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs in the PGM-FI SYSTEM with the HDS.

NO
     
     
     
DTC is not indicated. Go to step 2.

Open wire check (IG1 (RLS) line):

Open wire check (IG1 (RLS) line)

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.

?3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?4.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG ON (II) or ON mode
 
Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector: disconnected
Test circuit
IG1 (RLS)
Test point 1
L4 engine: Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector No. 1 (BLK/YEL)
V6 engine: Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector No. 1 (TAN)
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The IG1 (RLS) wire is OK. Go to step 3.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the IG1 (RLS) wire between the No. B13 (15 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the reverse lockout solenoid.?
3.
Open wire check (RLS line):

Open wire check (RLS line)
?1.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Jump the SCS line with the HDS.


?3.
Disconnect the following connector.

?4.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
 
PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
 
Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector: disconnected
Test circuit
RLS
Test point 1
L4 engine: PCM connector A (51P) No. 12 (LT GRN)
V6 engine: PCM connector A (51P) No. 2 (LT GRN)
Test point 2
L4 engine: Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector No. 2 (GRN/BLK)
V6 engine: Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector No. 2 (WHT)


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The RLS wire is OK. Go to step 4.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the RLS wire between the reverse lockout solenoid and the PCM.?

Is the reverse lockout solenoid OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
Check for loose terminals or poor connections between the PCM and the reverse lockout solenoid. If necessary, update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with the updated PCM, troubleshooting is complete. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM.?
