Problem verification:

Problem verification
?1.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?2.
Clear the DTC with the HDS.


?3.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?4.
Test-drive the vehicle.
NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

?5.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 12-120, 14-120, 16-120, or 18-120 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.?

Shorted wire check (Wheel speed sensor lines to power):

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.

?3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?4.
Measure the voltage between body ground and the appropriate wheel speed sensor ?B terminals of the VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector individually (see table).
Test condition
IG ON (II) or ON mode

Is there 0.1 V or more?

Repair a short to power in the wire between the appropriate wheel speed sensor and the VSA modulator-control unit.?
     
NO
     
     
     
The wheel speed sensor wires are not shorted to power. Go to step 3.

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

Reconnect the following connector.

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

Test-drive the vehicle.
NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

YES
     
     
     
Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present, replace the VSA modulator-control unit.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.?
