Check the vehicle battery condition first.
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

Check the backlight of multi-information display unit.

Does the backlight of multi-information display unit turn on?

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

The +B AUDIO wire is OK. Go to step 5.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the No. A22 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the multi-information display unit.?

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

The ACC wire is OK. Go to step 6.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the No. B37 (7.5A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the multi-information display unit.?

Open wire check (GND line):

Open wire check (GND line)

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Body ground

Is there less than 0.2 V?

     
YES

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the multi-information display unit and body ground (G505).?

Determine possible failure area (GA BUS lines, others):

Determine possible failure area (GA BUS lines, others)

Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Link to check the Upper Display icon status.

Is the Upper Display icon green?

     
YES
     
     
     
Go to step 8.
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 11.

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

Disconnect the following connector.

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Is there continuity?

There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the multi-information display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.?
     
NO
     
     
     
The SH LVDS wire is OK. Go to step 9.
9.
Open wire check (LVDS+ line, LVDS? line):

Open wire check (LVDS+ line, LVDS? line)
Test condition
Vehicle OFF mode
 
Multi-information display unit connector B (3P): disconnected
 
Audio-navigation unit connector H (3P): disconnected


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The LVDS+ and the LVDS? wires are OK. Go to step 10.
     
NO
     
     
     
There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the multi-information display unit. Replace affected shielded harness.?
10.
Multi-information display unit check (substitution):

Multi-information display unit check (substitution)

Substitute a known-good multi-information display unit.

?2.
Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.

Does the symptom go away?

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Multi-information display unit connector A (12P): disconnected

There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the multi-information display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.?
