NOTE:
If DTC U0029-00 is stored at the same time as DTC C0041-14 troubleshoot DTC U0029-00 first, then recheck for DTC C0041-14.

Problem verification:

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

Clear the DTC with the HDS.


?3.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then the ON mode.

?4.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the Freeze data/on-board snapshot.?

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

Check the brake switch signal (BRAKE SW (N.O.), BRAKE SW (N.C.)) with the HDS.

Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then the OFF (LOCK). If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground on the No. B13 (15 A) fuse circuit.?

Open wire check (IG1 ACG line):

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

Disconnect the following connector.
Brake pedal position switch 4P connector

?3.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?4.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle ON mode
 
Brake pedal position switch 4P connector: disconnected
Test point 1
Brake pedal position switch 4P connector No. 4
Test point 2
Body ground


Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The IG1 ACG wire is OK. Go to step 9.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the No. B13 (15 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse /relay box and the brake pedal position switch.?
9.
Open wire check (BKSWNC line):

Open wire check (BKSWNC line)

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Jump the SCS line with the HDS.


?3.
Reconnect the following connector.
Brake pedal position switch 4P connector

?4.
Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector A (51P)

?5.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?6.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
 
Brake pedal is not depressed

Body ground

Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The BKSWNC wire is OK. Go to step 19.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the PCM and the brake pedal position switch.?

Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

Reconnect the following connector.

Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector A (51P)

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?6.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Repair a short to power in the wire between the brake pedal position switch and the brake lights relay or the PCM.?

The STOP SW wire is OK. Go to step 19.

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Repair an open in the wire between the PCM and the brake pedal position switch.?

Fuse check:

Check the following fuse.

Repair an open in the wire between the brake pedal position switch and the brake lights relay or the VSA modulator-control unit.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the No. A6 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the brake pedal position switch.?

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

YES
     
     
     
Repair a short to power in the wire between the brake pedal position switch and the PCM.?
     
NO
     
     
     
The BKSWNC wire is OK. Go to step 19.

PCM check (substitution):

Reconnect the following connector.
PCM connector A (51P)

?3.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?4.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 20 seconds.

?5.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Check for loose terminals and poor connections in the PCM connector A (51P). If they are OK, replace the PCM.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.?
