Front Seat Rail Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, 2-door, 4-door and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:
2-door: The front passenger's weight sensor is part of the seat frame and must be replaced as an assembly.
4-door: The front passenger's weight sensor is part of the seat rail and must be replaced as an assembly.

Passenger's Seat

1. Front Seat-Back Cover/Pad - Remove


2. Front Seat Cushion Cover/Pad - Remove


3. Front Seat Rail - Remove

Manual seat (without front passenger's weight sensors)

Manual seat (with front passenger's weight sensors)

Power seat (without front passenger's weight sensors)

Power seat (with front passenger's weight sensors)

1.
With front passenger's weight sensors: Disconnect the front passenger's weight sensor connectors (A) and the front passenger's weight sensor unit connectors (B).

2.
Remove the clips (C).

3.
Power seat: Disconnect the slide motor connector (D).





4.
Remove the seat cushion frame (A).





5.
Remove the nuts or the TORX nuts (A), then remove the front passenger's seat rail/front passenger's weight sensors as an assembly (B).

NOTE: Remove the TORX nuts with a TORX E18 socket.

Be sure to install the harness wires so they are not pinched or interfering with other parts.
2-door: The front passenger's weight sensor is part of the seat frame and must be replaced as an assembly.
4-door: The front passenger's weight sensor is part of the seat rail and must be replaced as an assembly.

Passenger's Seat

1. Front Seat Rail - Install


Manual seat

Power seat
1.
Install the front passenger's seat rail/front passenger's weight sensors as an assembly (A) to the seat frame as shown, and loosely tighten the new nuts or the new TORX nuts (B).

NOTE: The bushings (C) and the collars (D) can be identified by their color.





2.
Tighten the nuts or the TORX nuts (A) to the specified torque.

NOTE:
Tighten the TORX nuts with a TORX E18 socket.
Tighten the nuts or the TORX nuts in the numbered sequence shown.





3.
Install the seat cushion frame (A).

Power seat: Connect the slide motor connector (A).

5.
Install the clips (B).

6.
With front passenger's weight sensors: Connect the front passenger's weight sensor unit connectors (C) and the front passenger's weight sensor connectors (D).

2. Front Seat Cushion Cover/Pad - Install


3. Front Seat-Back Cover/Pad - Install


4. Seat Operation - Confirm

Move the front seat and the seat-back through their full ranges of movement, and make sure the harnesses are not pinched or interfering with other parts.

6. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit - Initialize


7. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit - Operation Check


8. SRS Operation - Confirm

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
