Side Impact Sensor (First) Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

2-Door

1. Battery Terminal - Disconnect

Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Front Seat - Remove


3. Front Door Sill Trim - Remove


4. Side Impact Sensor (First) - Remove

1.
Remove the clips (A), then turn over the carpet (B) to gain access to the side impact sensor (first).






2.
Disconnect the side impact sensor (first) connector (A) on the left or right side wire harness.

3.
Remove the TORX bolt (B) using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the side impact sensor (first) (C).

4-Door

1. Battery Terminal - Disconnect

Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. B-Pillar Lower Trim - Remove


3. Side Impact Sensor (First) - Remove


1.
Disconnect the side impact sensor (first) connector (A) on the left or right side wire harness.

2.
Remove the TORX bolt (B) using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the side impact sensor (first) (C).

1. Side Impact Sensor (First) - Install


1.
Install the side impact sensor (first) (A) with the new TORX bolt (B), using a TORX T30 bit.

2.
Connect the side impact sensor (first) connector (C) on the left or right side wire harness.





3.
Install the carpet (A), then install the clips (B).

2. Front Door Sill Trim - Install


3. Front Seat - Install


4. Battery Terminal - Connect


5. DTC - Clear

Clear any DTCs with the HDS.

6. SRS Operation - Confirm

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

4-Door

1. Side Impact Sensor (First) - Install


1.
Install the side impact sensor (first) (A) with the new TORX bolt (B), using a TORX T30 bit.

2.
Connect the side impact sensor (first) connector (C) on the left or right side wire harness.

2. Battery Terminal - Connect


3. DTC - Clear

Clear any DTCs with the HDS.

4. SRS Operation - Confirm

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
