1.
Problem verification:

Problem verification
?1.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

?2.
Clear the DTC with the HDS.


?3.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II) again, or select the OFF mode, then the ON mode.

?4.
Wait 60 seconds or more.

?5.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 83-01 or 83-02 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.?
2.
Open wire check (F-CAN_H, F-CAN_L lines) 1:

Open wire check (F-CAN_H, F-CAN_L lines) 1

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

?2.
Disconnect the following connectors.
EPS control unit connector A (11P)
VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector or VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector

?3.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
 
EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
 
VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector or VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected

Without LKAS: VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector No. 8 (WHT)
 
With LKAS: VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 38 (WHT)

Test point 2
Without LKAS: VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector No. 15 (RED)

Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The F-CAN_H and F-CAN_L wires are not open. Go to step 3.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and the VSA modulator-control unit.?

Open wire check (F-CAN_H, F-CAN_L lines) 2:

Open wire check (F-CAN_H, F-CAN_L lines) 2

Reconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector or VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector

?2.
Disconnect the following connector.
Steering angle sensor 4P connector

?3.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
IG LOCK (0) or OFF mode
 
EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
 
Steering angle sensor 4P connector: disconnected
Test circuit
F-CAN_H
Test point 1
EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 10 (WHT)
Test point 2
Steering angle sensor 4P connector No. 2 (WHT)

Test circuit

Test point 1
EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 11 (RED)

Steering angle sensor 4P connector No. 3 (RED)


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The F-CAN_H and F-CAN_L wires are OK. Go to step 4.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and the steering angle sensor.?
4.
EPS control unit check (update):

EPS control unit check (update)
?1.
Reconnect the following connectors.
EPS control unit connector A (11P)
Steering angle sensor 4P connector

?2.
Update the EPS control unit if it does not have the latest software.

?3.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then start the engine.

?4.
Wait 60 seconds or more.

?5.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.
