Headliner Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE: How to read the torque specifications.


NOTE: Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

8. Headliner - Remove

Driver's Side

Passenger's Side

Quarter Pillar (Right Side)
1.
Remove the harness clips (A).
2.
For some models: Disconnect the connectors (B).




Without Moonroof

With Moonroof
3.
Slide the front seat all the way back, and recline the seat-back fully.
4.
Remove the door opening seals (A) and the tailgate weatherstrip (B).
5.
With the help of an assistant, lower the headliner (C).
6.
Move the headliner (A) rearward.
NOTE:
Have an assistant help you when removing the headliner.
Bending the headliner will crease and damage it.

9. Headliner Cushion Tape - Remove
NOTE: The positions and number of tapes change with models.


10. Retractor Cover/Bracket - Remove


11. Child Anchor Bracket/Cap - Remove


12. Grab Handle Bracket - Remove

13. Roof Side Pad - Remove (Without Side Curtain Airbags)

15. All Removed Parts - Install

Without Moonroof

With Moonroof
1.
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE:
If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the headliner and removed trim pieces with new ones.
To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect removed pieces and replace them if they have any of these types of damage:
?
Any crease or tears in the headliner (A).
?
Any damages around the grab handle holes (B) or sunvisor holes (C) in the headliner.
?
Any the clip bases (D) and fastener bases (E) (with moonroof) which have come off the headliner.
